[Update] - Squaremoji - Working on a tutorial level

 


Hi there, it has been a while since the last update about my game.  I am preparing a playable prototype which will include 3 levels: Playground level (just a level with different platforms and structures), a builder mode, where you will be able to build your own level and here is a short video of the tutorial level.

How to Create a 2D Platformer Shooter in GDevelop Free Game Engine

There was a little bit of a gap between my last video and this new one, i have dedicated more time to my own game this week, but i'm back now and i hope you will enjoy this new GDevelop tutorial. This week i will show you how to create a basic 2D Shooter Platformer in GDevelop and how to separate the body of your character from your weapon to get 2 benefits: 1. You can animate these 2 parts separately so it's easier to show your shot animation in situations like jump, run or just idle. 2. you could potentially reskin your character and your weapon separately, without creating tons of variations of your character assets and animations. What to poop?

So in my game, you can "poop" or better, generate these green blocks to help you when you find yourself stuck somewhere or when you can't jump high enough to reach a platform. But this opens up lots of possibilities:  what if you could poop bombs for example, which would explode and smash the environment in small pieces? or what if you could poop a cloud which could just fly up in to the sky with you on top of it? I am sure there can be many crazy, funny and creative ideas here and so if you have one, please let me know :) i'd love to hear some of these ideas and who knows, maybe i could implement one of your ideas in the game (obviously i would credit you in the game) So, please let me know if you have some cool ideas in the comments below :D Thanks for reading!
